  • Cultural Innovation Labs

Cultural Futures is exploring the use of Cultural Innovation Labs as a vehicle for bringing together diverse perspectives and fields of expertise to develop creative solutions tailored to the unique challenges of Canada’s cultural sector. Designed to foster innovation and practical application, these labs would bring together diverse perspectives in an environment that encourages experimentation, problem-solving, cross sector dialogue and collaboration with otherwise unexpected partners.

What IS A Cultural Innovation Lab?

A Cultural Innovation Lab is a collaborative space designed to address complex challenges within the cultural sector by fostering creative solutions for partner organizations that can applied to others across Canada. Drawing inspiration from social innovation labs, it brings together diverse voices—artists, cultural leaders, historians, policymakers, and community members—to co-create strategies that address systemic issues. These labs focus on reimagining how culture, arts, and heritage can be preserved, adapted, and shared in ways that resonate with contemporary society while honoring our shared pastst.
