As a national organization, we honour and respect the histories, languages, ceremonies, and cultures of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples from across Turtle Island who call what is now known as Canada home.
The Centre for Cultural Futures Canada recognizes and affirms the treaty rights of Indigenous peoples and upholds the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). In doing so, we are reminded that we are all treaty people, with shared responsibilities to one another.
We respect the right of Indigenous self-determination, including when and how Indigenous nations and peoples may choose to participate in the work of the Centre for Cultural Futures Canada. We actively encourage and welcome participation from First Nations, Inuit, and Métis individuals, groups, and organizations as equal partners in our governance and programming.
Our Secretariat operates from the rural community of Edson, Alberta, located in Treaty 6 territory—the traditional and ancestral lands of the Nehiyawak, Saulteaux, Siksika, Piikuni, Kainai, Dene, Nakota Sioux, and the Otipemisiwak (Métis) Nations.
